MINTAKA is Western Canada’s newest contemporary jazz collective. Named after the six star system that comprises the westernmost star of Orion’s Belt, MINTAKA features six of Edmonton’s premier composer-musicians, all of whom contribution original compositions to the collective’s repertoire. Exploring the intersections of jazz with contemporary influences like folk, RnB, rock, and pop, sonic worlds collide to lay ground for improvisation and dynamism. They are thrilled to be making their debut live performance at the Yardbird Suite on May 12.
Our live Tuesday Jam is hosted by a musician and a band while audience members join in on the fun by jamming along on stage.
Musicians who want to participate in the Jam can purchase a “Jam Participant” ticket at a reduced cost.
All Jam Participants need to register at the door upon entry to the event.
