Jazz pianist Mboya Nicholson leads a trio of stellar musicians in an evening of music including original compositions from his latest solo piano recording Melodic Faces. The recording is a collection of music inspired by elders, folklore, and cultural aspects of the African diaspora.

Jazz pianist Mboya Nicholson has spent over 25 years composing and performing. He has written string arrangements for conductor Colin Mendez Morris for projects featuring opera singers Mark S. Doss and Ernesto Ramirez and currently he leads a trio and a small jazz orchestra while accompaning jazz greats like trumpeter James Zollar.

Currently, Mboya is an instructor at MacEwan University teaching jazz piano and a course he developed that focuses on early jazz history with cultural context and the impact of the music on society.
