The Eric St. Godard E4

Eric St. Godard began playing piano at the age of five, and has been in love with the instrument ever since.

  • December 2, 2023
    8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Though first classically trained, jazz music peaked Eric’s interest during his high school years, and subsequently into his studies at the Brandon University School of Music under the tutelage of pianists Micheal Cain and Jeff Presslaff. Eric’s musical influences are quite diverse, but can mostly be credited to the blues/post-bop language and virtuosity of Oscar Peterson, the harmonic textures of Bill Evans, as well as the spontaneity and curiosity of Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett, just to name a few. Eric has also been influenced by genres outside of the jazz realm — from The Meters, Billy Joel, and The Beatles. Ultimately, Eric strives to use elements from his influences to tell a story through his compositions and improvisations, and aims take risks in order to bring an invigorating and individual sound to the Canadian music scene.
