Award winning Edmonton saxophonist and bandleader, Dave Babcock brings to the Yardbird stage a loving tribute to a somewhat overlooked instrument in jazz, the baritone saxophone. Although audiences have heard Dave perform mainly on tenor saxophone, he’s been playing
the baritone since his early days and felt it was high time the ‘big horn’ got its chance to shine.
This show will showcase songs made popular by some of the great baritone players in jazz history, Harry Carney, Serge Chaloff, Gerry Mulligan, Pepper Adams and Ronnie Cuber, to name a few. Joining Dave on Jan. 24th in an all-star lineup featuring Bob Tildesley (trumpet), Tom Van Seters (piano), Mike Lent (bass) and Sandro Dominelli (drums). Be sure to join the Dave Babcock Quintet for a great night of standards from the swing, cool and hardbop eras.
