The Road to Django traces a vibrant musical journey from India through Persia, Turkey, the Balkans, and ultimately to Spain and France: the cultural crossroads that shaped Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. Led by violinist Cam Neufeld, this dynamic performance blends original compositions written during Neufeld’s extensive travels with the rhythmic vitality, improvisation, and melodic influences found along this historic route.
The show explores how diverse musical traditions contributed to the development of Django’s unmistakable sound, weaving together modal melodies, percussive string textures, and contemporary jazz elements. The result is a cross-cultural celebration of musical migration and artistic exchange.
