River City Big Band: Jazzy Christmas

You’ll be hearing a great selection of seasonal favourites, all with a big band jazzy twist. We’re looking forward to seeing you December 9!

Edmonton-based River City Big Band, one of the premier jazz big bands in Alberta, has been entertaining since 1995. Special guests who have joined the band along the way include Juno Award winning artists Tommy Banks, PJ Perry, Mike Murley, and Bobby Cairns. The River City Big Band has also provided accompaniment to featured Canadian performers such as Kent Sangster, Mallory Chipman, Two Blue, and Maria Manna, plus international talent such as Jens Lindemann, Eric Marienthal, Wayne Bergeron, Carol Welsman, Wycliffe Gordon, and Simone. The band’s repertoire is extensive, ranging from the big band standards of Duke Ellington and Stan Kenton to the music of today’s most popular contemporary jazz composers, Including Edmonton’s-own internationally-renowned Allan Gilliland.
