    8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Art Blakey was a guide and mentor for so many young musicians getting their start in the scene. Some artists who went through the ranks of the Jazz Messengers include Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, Curtis Fuller, Horace Silver, Wynton Marsalis and more. The Fred Mack Sextet pays tribute to the group and their iconic, recognizable standards, with some new spice added throughout. The hard-bop tunes will feature Biboye Onanuga on drums, with some hard swinging, bluesy grooves and solos.

Fred Mack is a performer and educator within the Edmonton jazz scene.
