Fernanda Cunha and Trio

Fernanda Cunha returns to Edmonton for a special night at Yardbird Suite, her favorite venue and a place she revisits every two years with an entirely new show.

  •  September 26, 2026
     8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

She is bringing her signature Brazilian sound to the stage with a fresh trio lineup.

This time, she takes the stage with an exciting trio featuring pianist Chris Andrew, bassist Rubim de Toledo, and, for the first time, drummer Dave Laing.

Blending beloved Brazilian music, jazz standards and original compositions, Fernanda continuously fuses jazz instrumentation with the warmth and rhythm of bossa nova.

Known for her uniquely expressive voice, she is recognized for representing Brazilian music in Canada, and continues to push boundaries by weaving in subtle influences from the Canadian music scene.

While Rubim and Chris have shared the stage with her before, this is the debut of this particular trio configuration, adding a new dynamic to her sound. Rooted in a strong and authentic musical foundation, Fernanda thrives on exploring new territory, making this concert a vibrant and unmissable musical experience.

Music Day in Canada is a national celebration of Canadian music, local creativity, and the people who make music communities possible.

It brings together artists, venues, partners, cities, and audiences to create meaningful music moments across the country, while supporting artist development, local connection, and long-term creative infrastructure.
