An exploration and conversation in improvisation between pianist Izumi Kimura and drummer/percussionist Gerry Hemingway, exploring and supporting each others’ ideas, streaming from melodic moments to powerfully reflective minimalist moments. Both draw out a range of sound from their instruments to bring the listeners into new worlds, including preparations on the piano and melodic use of drumkit, blending exquisitely for textures and scenes which transport their audiences.
This performance made possible in part due to support from the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia & Culture Ireland.
Support for 2025 Edmonton International Jazz Festival is provided by presenting sponsor TD Bank Group through the TD Ready Commitment.
