Domi Edson

Domi Edson, a 26-year-old bassist, exudes a musical maturity that defies her age. Her bass-playing skills showcase a rich tone and seasoned swing, traits typically associated with artists twice her senior. Edson’s impressive resume includes performances with renowned figures like Terrell Stafford, Charles McPherson, Dawn Clement, and more, cementing her status as a rising star in the national and international jazz scene.

In 2021, she unveiled her debut album, “Without the Re,” garnering praise and consistent radio airplay. This album ingeniously combines her love for piano trios inspired by Ray Brown and Jeff Hamilton with a modern twist. Edson’s trio, featuring drummer Bobby Wiens and pianist Spencer Zweifel, took their music on tour across the Western United States and Canada, gracing notable venues and even performing at the 2023 International Society of Bassists Conference.

As a product of the University of Northern Colorado’s Jazz Studies Program and a recipient of the 2021 David Baker Scholarship from the Jazz Education Network (JEN), Edson’s dedication to jazz education and her contributions to the genre’s evolution are equally impressive.
