Join award winning saxophonist Dave Babcock and his quartet for a special Valentine’s Day show as they perform the music of legendary jazz artists Stanley Turrentine, Jimmy Smith and Kenny Burrell. Featured along with guitarist Peter Belec and drummer Jamie Cooper is Rooster Davis, Edmonton’s foremost organ aficionado. Turrentine, Smith and Burrell were all signed to the Blue Note Records label in the early ’60s and were frequent collaborators, both live and in the studio. This show will feature some of their classic ‘soul jazz’ material from that era, celebrated in this intimate 4-piece setting.
