Danae Olano Quartet

Born in Havana, pianist Danae Olano comes from the rich traditions of Cuban music.

With intense schooling and classically trained, Olano focuses her music on the roots of the Cuban piano to explore the legacy of the masters of Jazz music.

She is a founding member of the all-female band Jane Bunnett and Maqueque, which since its formation in 2013, she has earned a Juno Award and Nomination and a Grammy nomination. She is not only the pianist of this band, but she also sings, composes, and contributes arrangements, and now, she is the band’s artistic director.

Later on, Olano captured a Juno award in 2015 in the Best Jazz Album category with Maqueque. In 2017, the Grammy-nominated album Oddara and, in 2016, was invited to participate in the First Piano Festival held in Eastern University, Philadelphia, PA.
