Celebrating the Life and Music of Wayne Feschuk

Wayne passed away peacefully on August 17th, after a second, brief battle with cancer. He will be remembered by family and friends, not just as a person, but also for his decades long contribution to the Edmonton music scene. Born and raised in Edmonton, his talent and passion for music and playing the keyboards manifested itself in early childhood, and continued as a ruling passion throughout his life. He worked as a professional musician and toured extensively throughout Canada, the U.S., and Europe, performing at events like the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Paris Jazz Festival. He has a long list of concert performances to his credit, and has performed with Kenny Wheeler, Julian Priester, Pat LaBarbera, Steve Slagle, Lew Tabackin, Kent Sangster, Marv Stamm, Big Miller, and many others. While performing with the EdJE, the band won First Place honors in the nation-wide Alcan Competition at the Montreal Jazz Festival. He has received the "Edmonton Performing and Creative Arts Award for outstanding achievement in music, and two recordings he has performed on have been nominated for Juno Awards. Special appearances include a performance for the Queen of England, as well as at the Canadian Embassy in London England. Wayne ignited his keyboards with his musical talent and passion, and has touched many with his performances over the years.
