Blackout Over Rio

The music of Blackout Over Rio features complex rhythmic compositions, explosive soloing, works with varied ethnic instrumentation, and dynamic improvisatory explorations which find inspiration in the Tony Williams Lifetime, Larry Coryell’s Eleventh House, and kraut-rock and space-rock groups such as Embryo, Alcatraz, Hawkwind, and Ozric Tentacles. In addition to the band, each member of Blackout Over Rio are active composers and performers, with projects and works that have been featured at numerous events throughout Edmonton, Alberta – e.g. Mile Zero’s Subarctic series, the Edmonton Noise Fest, BEAMS, New Music Edmonton – as well as Europe, Asia, South America, and the US.
