Bill Richards Quartet

Bill Richards (pianist/composer/arranger) will be joined by Bob Tildesley (trumpet), Paul Johnston (bass) and Dave Laing (drums) to present several of Bill’s jazz compositions, including new works written with this quartet in mind, as well as some jazz standards.

Bill is known for his unique fusions of traditional and contemporary styles. He has performed and recorded at festivals and venues in western Canada and Ontario as a soloist, ensemble musician and leader, and has been featured on CBC Radio and CanWest-Global Television. Bill’s oeuvre includes film score, electronica, and compositions for jazz group and chamber ensemble. Bill is an associate professor in the Department of Music at MacEwan University.

Bob Tildesley is well known among jazz fans in Edmonton and across Canada and has performed with Bill in the Celsius Quartet. Paul and Bill have performed together at the Edmonton International Jazz Festival and elsewhere. Dave and Paul come to us from Montreal and have since made Edmonton their home. In addition to their well-established presence in the Canadian scene, Dave and Paul are faculty in the Department of Music at MacEwan University where Dave is the head of Drums/Percussion and Paul is the head of Recording and Production.
