Aretha Tillotson

“Introducing Aretha Tillotson” is an album that centers around pieces written for her thesis in Berklee’s Global Jazz program.

  • October 20, 2023
    8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Aretha has interviewed women about their experiences in Canadian art institutions and scenes, writing about each experience with a musical portrait. This album will feature an array of styles and instrumentations, from traditional standard jazz writing, to modern polyrhythmic sextets.

Aretha Tillotson is a Canadian bassist, band leader and composer. She has played with
notable jazz artists Kris Davis, Francesca Remigi and Allan Chase and performed in
2023 at the National Music Centre as part of the Ingrid and Christine Jensen Quintet.
As a session musician, Aretha toured with Universal artist Mick Flannery and was the
touring/resident bassist on the Broadway rendition of SIX, a position she continues in
2023/24 at the Mirvish Theatre in Toronto.
