“South Pacific: The Concert Musical will entertain and delight!”
Step into the warmth, charm, and romance of the South Pacific. This beloved musical follows U.S. military personnel, nurses, and island residents during World War II as they navigate love, courage, and the difficult truths of prejudice. Based on James A. Michener’s Tales of the South Pacific and featuring the iconic Rodgers & Hammerstein score—including timeless favourites like “Some Enchanted Evening”—this concert musical promises to sweep audiences away.
Presented with the brilliant arrangements of Harry Pinchin, conducted by the dynamic Jonathan Sutton, staged and coached by the incomparable Annie Randall, and produced by CMS Artistic Director Taina Lorenz, this production showcases the extraordinary vocal talents of Edmonton’s rising stars. The performance is elevated by the rich sound of the Cosmopolitan Music Society Pit Band, making this a truly unforgettable musical experience.
The 2025–2026 season also marks the 40th anniversary of the Cosmo Mixed Chorus, a welcoming, non-auditioned ensemble of singers of all ages and skill levels. With sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses joining together in lush harmonies, it is one of the largest and most celebrated groups within CMS.
A stirring story, soaring music, and exceptional Edmonton talent—this is a night at the theatre you won’t want to miss.
