The Kristian Braathen Trio came together in 2008. The trio has developed its sound with influences by the Ray Brown Trio, Bill Charlap Trio and Jacky Terrasson.

Drummer Kristian Braathen is a student of Dave Robbins, Blaine Wikjord, Jeff Hamilton and Kenny Washington. He has toured with the Russell Jackson Band (B.B. King's former bassist), saxophonist Donald Harrison and Matt "Guitar" Murphy of the Blues Brothers. As a jazz musician in Vancouver, Kristian regularly performs with musicians such as Miles Black, Jodi Proznick ,Tony Foster, Russ Botten, Sharon Minemoto, and David Sikula.

In 2015, he released his debut album "Tempus Fugit" which featured pianist Miles Black and bassist Jodi Proznick. As a composer and arranger, Kristian continues to develop his voice and plans to release a follow up album in early 2019.

Pianist Nick Peck and bassist Paul Rushka are two of Canada's finest jazz musicians. Kristian is thrilled to have them as part of his trio. The Kristian Braathen Trio performs original compositions, as well as intricate arrangements of jazz standards and contemporary music.
